Library and Information Service

Information is vital to both study and research, and the Library and Resource Centre is very much the academic hub of any institution of learning. The Library and Information Service is thus committed to providing information sources, facilities and services of a high standard. The Centre accommodates the students to do research for various projects, assignments, and essays, as well creating a space where students can study.

At IPSA we continue to build a very good stock of book material and other resources for recreational reading, but more importantly for educational and research purposes. Reading is the key to our students’ future – just imagine, if you cannot read you cannot effectively surf the net!

IPSA’s library houses some 10 000 items, including books, periodicals, Islamic magazines and newspapers and audio-visual items. The resource center’s collection is also made up of electronic books, electronic journals and articles that is accessible on the IPSA library server. The IPSA librarian will gladly assist you in exploring all that is available in the Library and PC Lab.

At the start of the year, the library presents a special programme to help orient new students as effective library users. Presentations and workshops to hone students’ information literacy skills are held during the rest of the year. In addition, professionally trained staff members are on hand full-time when students need assistance in their search for relevant academic information and in their efforts to put this to the correct use. Such support is allocated as part of the student timetable; research and library period. Attending the research and library period will prove very helpful to the student when writing assignment.
